The town of Perth Ontario.

Perth is a community of 6,000 sitting along the Tay River in beautiful Eastern Ontario less than an hour from the Nation’s Capital.

The town was established as a military settlement in 1816 and became known as the "Perth Military Settlement".  It was named Perth in honour of the acting Governor-General Sir Gordon Drummond whose ancestral home was Perthshire, Scotland.

The heritage downtown core is a beautiful mixture of old and new consisting of boutiques, specialty shops, cafés and a wide variety of restaurants.  Most of these operate out of the century-old stone buildings in town.

Not only does Perth have an impressive selection of places to eat, but there are also two breweries and a distillery; the Bridge Master Brewing Company, Perth Brewing Company and TopShelf distillery.

Perth also has a vibrant art scene and you can pop into local art galleries, enjoy a play at the Studio Theatre, listen to live music at a variety of venues or check out crafters' markets.

Code's Mill, just off beautiful Stewart Park, began as a tannery in the 1840s and features the Perth Chocolate Factory, a restaurant and a wedding hall.  Perth is also known as the wedding capital of Eastern Ontario.

The Perth Golf Course is walking distance from the downtown core and is Canada's oldest continuously operating golf course.   The Perth Citizens Band is a tradition dating back over 150 years and is still giving concerts on the bandstand behind Town Hall.

With a diverse economic sector, stable post-secondary presence, and growing tourism economy, Perth is one of Ontario’s most attractive and well known towns.
